I guess I am one of the dinasours that still uses 36Mhz and even worse have used PCM Futaba stuff saftely and without any problems for about 15 years. R149DP Futaba receivers do not like voltages in excess of 5V dc therefore LiFe technology requires a Voltage regulator. Why bother with the added complexity?? Drive your servos independentily with any source via a buffer and drive the Rx with a standard NiMh 4.8V source for total reliability.
I take on board all the contributions from manufacturers and others praising the attributes of LiFe technology and totally agree with the comments regarding their safety and their ability to respond to peak current demands but 21 years at QANTAS as an electronic engineer and my experience with two models of the type I fly encourages this response. I think it comes down to different strokes for different folks........
3D all go ....warbird scalies dont need the complexity or the weight.

I guess that leads directly as to how to feed your servoz.
If your Electric or 3D or War-Bird has large control surfaces flying at speedy WWII scale speeds then it could lead an engineer into the total system architectural design of....hinges, horns, clevises, rods, servos, mountings, amps, noise, voltage drops.........

The scary thing is the doubt cast on the shelf life of A123's in this instance.....
