I don't understand you people, our committee always makes the right decisions, especially when money is being spend!

For example when a few years ago , they decided to generously donate thousands of dollars to the bushfire people and to some guys that were restoring some WW2 bomber, while also raising our yearly contributions.

Now I live on a budget, that allows for ,amongst other things, usual daily living expenses, every year some donations to selected charities, and a small yearly allowance for my hobby.
that's why I was so pleasantly surprised to see part of my (raised) club fees donated to third parties ,without any direct benefit to the club,or any club members.
And then it hit me: I had obviously not been generous enough that year in my charity donations out of my free will, and luckily the club committee had somehow recognised this, and rectified this by donating some of my (limited) hobby allowance for me!

Now there is some wisdom for you!

And also the small bridge that needs to be repaired;
Some might argue that it is only being used by those that use the lunch area, and that they should pass the hat around to pay for the repair while they have their lunch, but not me!
I am confident that wisdom will prevail again, and the committee will have all of us,(including the many members like me that don't have time to sit down for lunch, or simply don't eat lunch at the club), pick up the tab , as it is important to us all that those members that do have their lunch there
have easy access to their lunch table and don't have to walk an extra 1 metre by taking the big bridge route to their preferred lunch spot!

It's not really on topic for this thread, but did the club really raise fees one year to donate to the restoration a WWII aircraft? From your post it looks like you are saying the fees were raised for that year to cover these types of expenses. This seems a bit wierd, but I really don't know if it's true. Can you adivse how much and when? Do you know? or are you having a bit of a rant / troll?

Hi all,

No Michael, I don't think the fees were raised to pay for those contributions, but fees have gone up steadily in the last seven years that I've been a member, and never down.
And as I said ,I don't mind that the committee spends our money on any needs for the club or even gives some to for example the bushfire brigade, but I did think it was a bit much at the time that they gave,if I remember correctly $500 dollars of club money to the guys with the bomber because some member liked it ,put it up in a meeting and approved it, without consulting all the members first.
But I can live with that,as procedures were followed, although in my opinion, in future they should either make donations to their favorite causes out of their own pocket, or maybe organize a fundraising event, and not just give away yours and mine contributions.

Where it it relevant to this thread that it shows the sharp contrast with the reason given for the club not funding this project: "not all members would benefit".

My question is: why are we funding projects outside the club, that have nothing to do with the club and not benefitting any members, and why can't projects like this one, that benefit quite a few of our members, and improve the club as well as safety, be funded with club money as well?

And : why is this project excluded from club funding, when so many other things (like the small bridge repair)obviously not benefit everyone?

My appeal to the management committee....Release the funds to allow these blokes to upgrade the on site charging facilities of the club to be in line with current member requirements...

Years ago, in response to members wishes, a correct decision was made to provide convenient on site charging. Stations were installed by club members similiarly to the new proposal. These conveniences were enjoyed by all who wished to use them.

Since those days we have seen a dramatic increase in electric powered aircraft justifying our clubs need to upgrade the charging facilities to cope with this demand. The upward trend to electric power shows no sign of abating. By not having charging facilities we are forcing our members to lug around heavy duty lead acid batteries or bring to the field a bag full of batteries.

Why are we making it so hard to fly when for a relatively small sum we enhance the enjoyment of flying all types of aircraft at WRCS.
