Re: ESM HAWKER HURRICANE 82"
Hurricane...wood and canvas.....built by limey small ship builders...didn't have enough skilled metal workers to make Spitfires in sufficient numbers...now the DVII was the first plane with an all meta frame in 1916 was so devastating that they were confiscated by the cheating pommies at the treaty of Versi.....Urnst Udet ( the pilot of Lo! ) went on to be be Hitlers dive bomber adviser in ww2, but he insisted that the divers must have an open cockpit.
So, in this case, my DRGM DVII is worth two of your raggety old Hurricanes which could only fall on the enemy in battle!

" Like most fighters developed for use in Europe early in the war, it was too short-ranged for effective use in the Pacific. Nevertheless, it was the best aircraft the British could spare against the Japanese at the start of the Pacific war.
The aircraft was eventually relegated to a ground attack role, and a number were armed with 40mm cannon for use as tank busters."

Hi Gary at last we agree on something yes the F4U was a fantastic aircraft but why the hell they put it onto aircraft carriers beats me it was deadly not only to the Japs but to the guys flying it and trying to "land on".
I have just finished a book called "Carrier Pilot" by Norman Hanson he was one of the few to survive a spin in on trying to "land on" but only just, from what i have read in this book the aircraft killed more pilots then the Japs did.
Now if you behave yourself and are nice on Sunday and say pretty please i will lend you the book to read.
Dave.

Re: ESM HAWKER HURRICANE 82"
Thanks Mr Nail mate....soon...
I don't think my stuff (ups) are quite serviceable enough for the public on Sunday.
I always buy the pilots training manual and operating guide, video training and fly on my simulator with the complicated projects where possible before I hit the air...."Thou shall not attempt more than 2 spins with an F4U as they are unrecoverable".....tail bits get blanketed by the wings etc.
Mine snapped into a spin inverted from 20' after a repair which left it a tad tail heavy and I yanked too hard out of a low loop.
Killed more of us than them....ha ha....who were the real Kamkazicans then???
Marty...$90.....and a cup of coffee....
