Receiver antennas deserve special attention. They should never be shortened, have knots tied in them or doubled back on themselves (can reduce receiver’s sensitivity). Also there should be some form of strain relief on the wire inside the model where the antenna exits, so the strain is not taken at the receiver end. Threading the wire through a shirt button is ideal. Anchor the other end via a rubber band so that if the antenna catches on anything it won’t be stretched or broken. You should have a plastic tubing sleeve over the antenna wire at the point it exits a fibreglass fuselage, otherwise vibration can cause the sharp edges to cut through the antenna - and suddenly no signal, no aeroplane.
