As most of you will know, WRCS supported the recent Wenona Transport Showcase Event, with David Bolstad, Richard Owens and David Menzies displaying a range of aircraft, talking to students and running a flight simulator for students to try out their flying skills. The following thank-you has been received from Andy Draper - the Director of the programme:
Re: Wenona STEM Transport Showcase 2016
I’d very much like to express my sincere thanks for your involvement in the Wenona STEM Transport Showcase 2016. Along with Richard and David, you provided a fascinating, informative and entertaining display of your wonderful R/C aircraft. The flight simulator was also a big hit, and the three girls who successfully landed the plane (out of the hundreds that tried it!) were very happy with their prizes.
As I mentioned on the day, we are very excited to be offering Engineering Studies for year 11 and 12 as well as our own course, Applied STEM for years 9 and 10. Both of these courses have an aeronautic component, and your presentation was a wonderful opportunity for students studying these subjects.
Many thanks again, and I look forward to catching up with you soon to discuss how we might include some of your ideas for radio control aircraft as an educational activity. Over the next week or so Gil, our photographer, will email through some pictures for you to use on your web page and in publications if you so wish.
