Just a reminder that there is pylon racing on Saturday June 4th - two events:

- Unmodified Scanner/Tiger 46, with 11x6 APC propellor.

- Open pylon for IC and electric - anything goes.

The races will run during the morning/lunchtime, with the field being open, all day, for sport flying, other than when the racing is taking place.

Both race classes are open to bronze/silver/gold wings pilots. Dave Pound is organising the event, so please let him know if you want any further information.

As an aside, if anyone is looking for a little building challenge, there's a few of us making electric racers. The rules are simple - designed and built by you, not from a plan, kit, ARF, maximum span of the main wing is 36" (standard balsa sheet length), battery to be a 2200 3 cell lipo. All else is up to the builder - shape, materials, motor, prop. The idea is to have a few of these ready by end of June for a bit of casual racing, purely for fun. If you'd like to have a go, get building! There's about 90 minutes and $10, so far, invested in my effort:

It is with regret that I am letting you know that we have lost another WRCS member, Alan Gleeson, whose funeral was 17th May, as advised by his long-time friend and also WRCS member, Graham Baker.

Alan was one of the founding members of the Pittown Club and started flying with Graham at the old Riverstone meatworks site.

Alan had a wonderful knowledge of vintage aircraft.

He will be sadly missed, and our thoughts go to Beverly, and his family, at this sad time.

Our Autumn Scale Day is on Sunday May 22nd 2016, with pilot brieifing at 9:30am and flying from 9am onwards (weather permitting).

Visitors are very welcome and will be able to drive down the track all the way the the car park, from about 8:30 onwards, and can come right into the viewing area to get a close up look at the aircraft, both in the pits and in the air. We have plenty of shelter and there will be a sausage sizzle and soft drinks available to purchase, with scale aircraft flying all day, and a break for some gentle pylon racing at lunch time.

A couple of things for a cold day in May:

Stan's build of the 1/3rd scale Tri Pacer continues. You can go to the members articles section of the site to download the latest instalment by clicking HERE

Thanks to David Bolstad and all those that represented WRCS at the Wings Over Illawarra event on 30th April and 1st May. WRCS had a good presence with a static display - and plenty of visitors wanting to find out more. Here's a delection of photos from the event:

It is with regret that I am letting you know that our great friend, Peter Sharpe, passed away on 22nd April 2016 from complications and infection following open-heart surgery. Peter has been known to many of our members, over the years, as a kind and amiable chap, a gentleman, always good company and a friend to all. He loved fun, and he loved planes, and being with his chums at WRCS.

Our thoughts go to Peter's loving wife, Diana, at this very sad time.

Peter's funeral is on Thursday 28th April at 10:15am at the Garden Chapel, Castlebrook Memorial Gardens, Windsor Road, Kellyville (opposite the Rouse Hill Centre).
