Many thanks to Jaz, and all the members of the Gosford club who visited us on Sunday 23rd March for a great day of sport flying and socialising. Our roving reporter has written up his notes and included a few photos covering the event. Click HERE to read his findings.

Folks

For those that don't already know, Peter Wyss is at the New Horizons Nursing Home, 53-63 Badajoz Road, North Ryde. He is doing well and welcomes visitors. I won't publish the telephone number of the nursing home here, but you can get it from Yellow Pages by clicking on this link if you need to know visiting hours etc.

The new gate is in - and it is a fancy piece of gear, with a multi-lock mechanism in which any one lock can release the gate tang.

THE WRCS LOCK IS (NOW) THE SECOND FROM THE LEFT

To open/close sight through the upper slot.

Using both hand holes unlock and remove lock from the 2 steel plates, being careful to avoid any spiders that are resting in the housing...

....then, after recovering from any spider bites that you failed to avoid...

The handle is on the right side.

Push/pull so allowing a short movement of one of the steel plates to release the tang.

The gate should now open, but might need a slight lift.

 IMPORTANT

When LOCKING make sure the lock hasp engages BOTH of the steel plates when the gate is closed

Chris Hebbard, our well known and long-serving ex Vice President, has called to let us know of the passing of his father, Frank, who was also a WRCS member and Office Bearer, from around 1978 to 1991.

Chris extends an open invitation to current members to attend a rememberance function at 2pm on Tueday 18th March at North Ryde RSL.

For anyone that hasn't noticed it, yet, a huge amount of mulch was illegally dumped on the access to the field a few days ago. Brian has been busy making arrangements for the removal of the pile and, in the meantime, you might need to navigate carefullyl around it (update - now cleared).

You'll notice that the rain has left a few more potholes in the road from the gate to the field. At the moment, we aren't allowed to bring in heavy machinery to smooth and grade the road, and being a state park, we aren't allowed to bring in any external surfacing materials so...

...If you get the urge, please stop at a favourite pothole and take a few rocks from the side of the road to fill the pothole, and maybe drive back and forth over them a couple of times, to smooth it out. If we all put in a few minutes on the way in or out, the potholes will be dealt with, for the most part, without spending a cent.
